Wal-Mart And Sam’s Club Pharmacies Ready To Fill Prescriptions For All Medicare Part D Participants

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – December 31, 2005 – Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. announced today that its Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB pharmacies are fully prepared to fill prescriptions for Wal-Mart customers and SAM’S CLUB members enrolled in the new Medicare Part D prescription drug plan. The plan will go into effect on January 1, 2006.

“Our objective is to make it easy for our customers and members to understand their benefit and get their prescriptions filled,” said pharmacist Kevin James, National Accounts Manager, Pharmacy. “Although some new enrollees may not have received their plan enrollment cards, we want to reassure them that Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB pharmacists are ready to help them right away by using the information on their plan enrollment forms. Our pharmacists can also help them by calling their drug plan administrators, or by contacting Medicare directly to confirm their enrollment.

“I want particularly to emphasize,” James added, “that we are working closely with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to ensure that people eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid – or ‘dual eligible’ beneficiaries – will receive their needed medications at all of our Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB pharmacies from the moment the new plan goes into effect.”
