BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Jan. 13, 2006 – Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB pharmacies are fully equipped to fill prescriptions for customers and members enrolled in the new Medicare Part D prescription drug plan, including “dual eligibles.”
“We are working closely with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to ensure that people eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid – or ‘dual eligible’ beneficiaries – will receive their needed medications at all of our Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB pharmacies,” said pharmacist Kevin James, National Accounts Manager, Pharmacy. “Our pharmacies can work with most prescription plans, so if our customers or members have more than one card, we can process them all. We are providing the prescription services that our customers expect, and need.”
All Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB pharmacists are trained to be a reliable resource of information about the new Medicare plan and to make filling prescriptions a fast and easy process for beneficiaries. Each pharmacy also has a dedicated technician who handles any issues related to the Part D Benefit. This frees up pharmacists to spend more time with customers and members to answer their questions about prescriptions or the plan itself.
“We want to make it easy for our customers and members to understand their benefit and get their prescriptions filled,” added James. “Although some new enrollees may not have received their plan enrollment cards, we want to reassure them that Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB pharmacists are ready to help them right away by using the information on their plan enrollment forms. Our pharmacists can also help them by calling their drug plan administrators, or by contacting Medicare directly to confirm their enrollment.”
For the last several months, Wal-Mart has sponsored an Awareness, Education and Enrollment program and has helped thousands of beneficiaries and their family members understand Part D options and how to enroll in a plan. The program will continue until the enrollment period ends in May.
