Sam’s Club awards a $100,000 Wal-Mart Foundation grant to program that teaches students basic business lessons from the workplace

Orange County, CA- Sam’s Club has partnered with Junior Achievement (JA) of Orange County to bring financial education into the classroom. Through the Wal-Mart Foundation, Sam’s Club donated $100,000 to JA of Orange County and for the third year in a row has provided associate volunteers to visit classrooms at Thomas Edison Elementary School in Anaheim, CA. Volunteers taught elementary school students the basic concepts of business and economics. Forty Sam’s Club associates worked with 425 students through the program.

"To see first hand the impact this learning can have on students is a gratifying experience for our associates involved."

JA Worldwide is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Last year, JA worldwide reached over 8 million students. Their programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, create jobs which make their communities more robust, and apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities.
